Son of Man is the Lord of Sabbath: Resurrection Saturday

So let me give you a little background before I start. The last few weeks I’ve been studying the crucifixion and the resurrection as I always do this time of year. I have concluded over the years that the crucifixion was definitely not on Friday as Pagan Rome tells everyone. And that Jesus was in fact crucified on a Wednesday. But that left a number past “3 days and 3 nights” that Jesus told us directly was how long he would be in the earth setting the captives free. So with that said, I’ve been studying it again.

Over the years (for some reason) I never thought to look in the Greek manuscripts at what was actually being said here in relation to his resurrection. Well…I did last week. Interesting enough, all four Gospels use the word σαββάτων (sabbatōn) or what we know as Sabbath for when Mary and the women went to take the spices to the body of Jesus. This is when they found the stone rolled away and Jesus gone. This word is used 11x and 5 of those are translated Sabbath, while the others are translated as first day of the week. Why they did this was probably for there own reasons, to promote the pagan Easter.

Now let me also mention this word σαββάτων (sabbatōn) is plural. Not singular. So this means that there were two sabbaths at this time of year, and there were. The first was a High Sabbath and this fell on 15 Nisan or the feast of Unlevened Bread or what we know as Passover. The second Sabbath was on the seventh day that according to GODs calender in Genesis, the 7 days started with the evening and then the day. Knowing all this, the Sabbath or the 7th day started on what we know as Friday evening at Sundown or Sunset and ended on our Saturdays sunset.

So back to the scriptures. I just needed to clarify how we are to look at the counting of these days when Jesus tells us that he would be in the heart of the earth for 3 days and 3 nights. Here is how we have always read this scripture.

And on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and certain other women with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. But they found the stone having been rolled away from the tomb. And going in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. (Luke 24:1-3)

Now here is the Greek of this same verse.

Polyglot Greek
1 And μιά one των of the σαββάτων Sabbaths, όρθρου dawn βαθέως at deep, ήλθον they came επί unto το the μνήμα tomb, φέρουσαι bringing α which ητοίμασαν they prepared αρώματα aromatics, και and τινες some others συν with αυταίς them.

Now there are 2 Bibles that match the original Greek text exactly. All of the Gospels in the original Greek agree with this.

Coverdale Bible
1 Bvt vpon one of the Sabbathes very early in the mornynge, they came vnto the Sepulcre, and brought ye spyces which they had prepared, and certayne wemen with the.

Great Bible
1 But vpon the fyrst daye of the Sabbothes, very early in the mornynge, they came vnto the sepulcre, and brought the swete odoures whych they had prepared, and other wemen wyth them.

The other 3 texts of this incident from the Gospels give us not only proof that it was on the Sabbath but it was early enough that it was before sunrise and it was dark. We have 4 witness of the same thing. Jesus resurrected on the Sabbath somewhere between 3-5 early on what we call Saturday morning, according to the text. Now 3ish am is in my opinion the perfect time for Jesus to resurrect. This is the darkest time of day and scholars as well as those in the occult agree that this time of early morning is when the veil is thinnest between our world and the spirit world. This for me has always been a time for prayer and spiritual warfare.

There are some who believe Jesus died on Wednesday but wasn’t resurrected until 3pm on the Sabbath. They believe that He needed to fulfill the 3 days with a 72 hour stay. Not sure how they get that but I disagree, especially when scripture tells us the women showed up prior to Sunrise on the Sabbath. I personally hold to a Wednesday (or a 4th day crucifixion death) at 3pm. He gave up the ghost and he was at that moment in Paradise (just like He told the thief) on the cross. There was no waiting to be put in a tomb in order to start the countdown for the 1st day, just like He prophesied. So the 1st day starts at that moment. It doesn’t matter if the 1st day only consisted of 4 hours at that point.

You count the 4th day “day” (Wednesday) as the first day. The first night was at sunset on the 5th day (Wednesday) which would begin “Thursday”. The following sunrise is the 2nd “day” (Thursday morning – 5th day). Thursday evening at sunset is the 2nd evening and starts the 6th day. Sunrise on Friday morning is the 3rd and final day and continues the “6th day”. Friday evening starts the Sabbath (7th day) at sunset and the final 3rd evening Jesus spoke of, fulfilling prophecy. The women showed up on the Sabbath between 3-5am on this 3rd evening showing us that Jesus did exactly what He said He was going to do.

And please notice that when GOD ordained the 7 days at Creation, He said the day started with the evening (night) and THEN the day. Not the other way around. But Jesus told us just the opposite, 3 days and 3 nights. Like I said, Jesus dying and giving up the ghost at the 6th hour or 3pm left time for Joseph and Nicodemus to take the body and prepare it for the tomb before this high sabbath for Passover (5th day of the week) that would start at sundown around 7pm.

Now something I also want to mention is when Jesus was going through the field with the disciples and they were eating the grain on the Sabbath. They got scared because they felt like they were breaking the Sabbath. Jesus had to reassure them that He was the Lord of the Sabbath. (Matthew 12:8, Mark 2:28 and Luke 6:5). Let me also bring up the transfiguration in Matthew 17. “Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, and led them up on a high mountain in private; and He was transfigured before them, and His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.” This happened on the Sabbath and was showing the 3 what His glory would look like. These scriptures tells us why Jesus would resurrect on the Sabbath instead of any other day. The day of rest was the resurrection to give us rest in the LORD.

Let me also bring up His crucifixion being at the tale end of the 4th day. Look at Genesis 1:14-19. GOD creates the lights in the firmament to divide the night from day. They are to be for signs, and seasons and for days and years. This is when the light shone upon the earth as was the resurrection of Jesus was to give light to a spiritually dark world. This crucifixion was the turning point in history and Satan was at that point in history, bound to the abyss or bottles pit for this symbolic thousand years in Revelation 20. This was a historic sign. He also created the Sun and the Moon to rule respectively and to DIVIDE THE LIGHT FROM DARKNESS. Can you see how beautiful this is according to the 4th day crucifixion? It is amazing how GOD works.

Let me also add one more cool thing about this symbolic 4th day. Jesus was the final lamb sacrificed at the very moment the High Priest sacrificed the final Passover lamb at the sixth hour. He was showing us that it is finished as the veil was rent from top to bottom wench separated the Holy of Holies from the Holy Place in the Temple. Now when families were to get their Passover lamb, they were to get it and have it for 4 days. This means that the day Jesus made His kingly entry from Mount of Olives to Jerusalem on “Palm Sunday”, everyone was finding up their Passover lambs. They were to keep them for 4 days and this meant that the children would connect with these lambs and have an attachment like a pet. Unfortunately little did the children understand, this lamb would be an offering to the Lord GOD as a Passover thanksgiving. Jesus was with the people in Jerusalem for 4 days prior to Him putting Himself on that tree as a sacrifice for our sins. He was our final Passover.

Jesus Christ is risen. Yes, it happened on the Sabbath, not on the 1st day of the week or Sunday like we have been told. Don’t take my word for it and please look it up. Celebrate His resurrection today (Friday evening to our Saturday morning) on the Sabbath. This Saturday morning is when Jesus resurrected. The Son of Man is the Lord of the Sabbath.

Now I tell you all of this for a reason. This was conformation as to why I believe Scripturally He was crucified and gave up the ghost and went to Paradise on the 4th day (Nisan 14) of the week at the sixth hour (3pm). And He was raised from the grave and bodily resurrected on the late “evening” of the Sabbath at around the 22nd hour. Scriptures confirm this but what I was about to witness was awesome.

I had something strange happen this morning (early Saturday the 11th) at around 3:30 am and it just wasn’t me, but my wife also. I believe all of this is confirmation of what I was reading in scripture. And let me first say this, when I sat down and looked at the original greek of these texts, it was this morning (around 9am Saturday) after I woke up. I had no idea everything was going to fall into place the way it did.

A few years back I had made a point to get up early in the morning and pray. Unfortunately I hadn’t done this in a long time and for some reason I woke from dead sleep around 3:30am this morning. I don’t know why but once I was awake I couldn’t go back to sleep. Around the same time my wife woke up from a dead sleep and looked agitated. I asked her what was wrong and she told me nothing. Around 4 in the morning I just sensed I needed to get up and go pray. So I did.

After praying I fell back asleep and so did my wife. We both got to sleep in until around 8 (which never happens) and she asked me if she woke me up by saying something. I told her I woke up on my own for some odd reason. She ended up telling me that she thought she yelled “praise GOD and that woke me up. I didn’t hear her say that so she’s assuming she dreamt she yelled it. After we studied what I already mentioned everything started to click. There was a reason why I got up to pray at that hour. There was a reason why she dreamt she yelled “praise GOD” at that exact moment. We both believe GOD was giving us confirmation of what He was about to show. I believe at around this time when all this was happening, this was historically around the time Jesus resurrected. Praise GOD!!!

  1. great article, thank you. I think you may have made a typing error in the following sentence: ‘Jesus resurrected on the Sabbath somewhere between 3-5 early on what we call Sunday morning, according to the text.’
    Don’t you mean Saturday/Sabbath morning?

  2. Whilst I agree that the Lord Jesus Christ likely did rise from the dead on the sabbath; I am assured that none of the women or disciples visited the tomb again until after the weekly sababath had ended. Matthew 28:1 (in the English and the original Greek) confirms the timing and an appreciation of the godly fear for God’s commandments by all concerned does the same. Matthew 28:1 “In the *end of the sabbath, as it began to *dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.” [*end: opse; *dawn: epiphōskō]. They loved Christ enough to take him down off of the tree and bury him before sunset (Deuteronomy 21:23), leave to go and observe the first day of the High Sabbath (Exodus 12:16), “prepared spices and rested the [weekly] sabbath day according to the commandment” (Luke 23:56/ Exodus 35:2) and return again – first thing – after the sabbath. It’s a breath-taking testimony – obedience is better than sacrifice.

    1. When referring to the Greek I am basing it off of the a Recieved Greek Text or Textus Receptus. I am not sure way manuscripts you are referring to. Maybe you can tell me what specific Greek Text references Matthew 28 like the KJV English is written? Look specifically in the manuscripts I mentioned (also reference the Apostolic Polyglot Greek Text) and this is why Myles Coverdale wrote what he wrote on the first English translations of the Greek scriptures. I stand on His resurrection being on the Sabbath and that was the point of writing this. Nothing more. Nothing less.

    2. And are you insinuating by your comment that Mary Magdalene and the other Mary tool Jesus off the tree and buried Him before Sunset? This is what you wrote. Where is the witness in the New Testament Gospels of this? John tells us both Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus did this. This is the reasoning as to why the women went back. Just asking you to clarify if this is what you are saying here?

  3. The Textus Receptus also includes the word “opse” (after): όψη δε σάββατον τη επιφωσκούση εις μιαν σάββατον ήλθεν μαρία η μαγδαληνή και η άλλη μαρία θεωρήσαι τον τάφων” {opse de savvaton ti epifoskousi eis mian savvaton ilthen maria i magdalini kai i alli maria theorisai ton tafon} Source: John 19:38 -40 is very clear on who took Jesus Christ’s body down, and the “they” I referred to is included in the opening paragraph of my reply (e.g “the disciples” – of who Joseph and Nicodemus were – in the true sense of the word); and again by the phrase, “all concerned”. I simply wrote to avoid any “babies” being confused by your article – albeit inadvertently. None of the people mentioned (incl. the Mary’s) broke the sabbath(s) i.e. by visiting the tomb before sunset on the Saturday.

  4. I am Greek, and I have also tried to come to a conclusion on what was the day of the crucifixion and the day of the resurrection. I understand your reasoning about the word “σαββάτων”, but the point is that the same plural word is used in a number of other cases in the N. Testament, and while in some cases one could argue that plural is required, in Acts 13:14 and Acts 16:13, I think it is clear that the reference is about an ordinary, weekly Shabbath.
I came to the conclusion that everything depends on a) wether Jesus had a Passover meal (Last Supper) without a lamb (which could be probable if He had the meal in the community of the Essenes, as I have read), and b) wether the Essenes used to have their Passover meal on the evening of the 14th Nissan (perhaps killing themselves their lamb, in which case the Last Super would also contain lamb, though it is not mentioned), whereas the majority of the people, who followed the rituals of the Temple, had their seder on the 15th, just as the Jews do today.
These are the things that need to be thoroughly researched for a conclusive answer to be reached.

    1. Yes. After writing this I have come to the conclusion that Jesus had the meal on 14th Abib/Nisan. This would be in accordance with scripture and the actual day of Passover. I need to change a few things in this blog. Thanks for the comment.

      1. I wish you find the information to support a definitive conclusion. I also tend to believe that the Last Supper took place on the 14th, on Wednesday evening, then He was arrested and “tried”, and on the morning of the 14th they crucified Him, and He gave His spirit the moment the last lamb was slaughtered, at 3 pm. But the weak point here is that He could not have had a Passover meal the night before, without a lamb. Jesus said that He would have a Passover meal, so we cannot doubt the character of the meal. A lot of people think that He ate in a room belonging to the Essenes, because of the man who carried the vessel of the water, since this was a woman’s chore, and we know that the Essenes had only male communities. Also, there is evidence that they had a community in Jerusalem and that they did not condone of the practices of the clergy and wouldn’t follow theirs rituals.
Another thing is that I gor to your blog because I was searching for articles connecting the coronavirus to the white horse of Rev. 6:2. I believe the Lord has shown it to me as I was praying, and I want to give you some more information on that.
First it’s the corona, which is the Larin word for the Greek “στέφανος” and then it’s the bow, the “toxon”. For us the word arrow has little meaning, because everything that is connected to the use of this weapon comes from the word “τόξον”, eg. archer is τοξοβόλος, archery τοξοβολία, to shoot an arrow is τοξεύω. The word arrow is “βέλος” and it is used in Eph. 6:16.
The interesting thing is that not many people know, and I didn’t know it myself, even though I am quite well educated in ancient Greek, that the original meaning of the word virus in Greek is arrow, and it is not the word “βέλος”, it’s the word “ιός”. None of us Greeks now know the original meaning of the word ιός, we all know it means virus, but before that use, it meant “poison”, and even before that it meant “arrow”. It comes from the verb ίημι, which you can look up here:ἵημι. In Greek when we want to say that a virus infects you, we use the word that has the meaning defile, but in English also the word virus is connected to poison, if you think of the word virulent.
So, his toxon, might very well be a virus, and of course the word toxon is the root word for toxic in Greek τοξικός (I believe you can see the resemblance and read it in Greek, too), and other derivatives.
Also, I talked about the Rev. 6:2 verse with a professor of Ancient Greek at the University of Thessaloniki, who is a believer and maybe the best scholar of the Bible in Greece, and he told me that he doesn’t believe the word toxon comes from the verb τίτκτω (give birth, as Strong’s suggest), and it has nothing to do with fabric. He tends to believe that it comes from an old Indoeuropean root, while others believe that it comes from the verb “τυγχάνω”, which has the meaning of “meet, come across someone”. And definitely, we do not see a connection with the rainbow. Besides, as the horse is one of the seals, the rider cannot be Jesus. “…and he came out as a victor (having won victory), with the purpose of winning/being a victor”. I believe the virus came out of China as a victor, without being contained, in order to win the world. The good thing is that this is his purpose, but we are not told that he finally wins. Also, if it is the white horse. there is not going to be a devastating economic catastrophe, there needs to come a war, and the economic catastrophe will follow after.
In most references on the web, people seem to think that the pandemic is the fourth horse, because they fail to make the connection between the toxon and the virus, they think that the toxon indicates war and thus the fourth horse seems a better candidate. But, if this is the fourth horse, what were the previous horses? I know that the Lord gave me that hint about the corona on the rider of the white horse as I was praying, without trying to connect it with Revelation, which I do not understand. And now I realize how well it fits.
Anyway, I hope that you will find this information useful, let me know.

    2. Hello Sofia,

This comment is in response to your latest one about the connection between the ‘coronavirus’ and the white horse in Revelation 6:2. I believe that you are right. I believe that the ‘coronavirus’ was the opening of the first seal of Revelation. The ‘coronavirus’ has effectively ‘conquered’ the world without any warfare, which I believe relates to the rider being given a ‘bow’ without any arrows. However, regarding ‘toxon’ (τόξον) coming from the verb ‘tikto’ (τίτκτω), I do believe this is accurate. This is the entry for ‘tikto’ in Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance:

      ‘bear, be born, bring forth

A strengthened form of a primary teko tek’-o (which is used only as alternate in certain tenses); to produce (from seed, as a mother, a plant, the earth, etc.), literally or figuratively — bear, be born, bring forth, be delivered, be in travail.’

The last definition matches what Jesus said when speaking about the beginning of the end time events in Matthew 24:1-8 and Mark 13:1-8 being the ‘beginning of sorrows’. In the Greek interlinear Bible (please note that I have used the one found here:, the word ‘ōdinōn’ is used in Matthew 24:8 and Mark 13:8 and is translated as ‘birth pangs’.

      Matthew 24:1-8 (KJV)

[1] And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.
[2] And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
[3] And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
[4] And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
[5] For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
[6] And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
[7] For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
[8] All these are the beginning of sorrows.

I have also seen comments online regarding the connection between ‘tikto’ and ‘TikTok’ (an evil platform), which, as far as I am aware, was heavily promoted alongside the rise of the ‘coronavirus’. I also saw the the connection ‘TikTok’ has with time, which I believe I had thought about before. ‘TikTok’ (which I am assuming is from ‘tick tock’) means that the clock is ticking, and I believe can also be used to mean that time is running out. I knew there was something strange about the popularity of ‘TikTok’ along with the rise of the ‘coronavirus’, but seeing the comments made me realise that ‘tikto’ and ‘TikTok’ are, I believe, connected.

Also, this is the definition given for ‘toxon’ in Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance:

‘From the base of tikto; a bow (apparently as the simplest fabric) — bow.’

I believe the masks are the fabric, which, as far as I am aware, has been the primary object that has been promoted and enforced during this ‘pandemic’, and can essentially be seen as simple fabrics, with people covering their mouth and nose with a ‘fabric’. I think the mask wearing has been and still is the most emphasised part of this ‘pandemic’, for example, not being allowed entrances to places where masks are required, not being able to travel without a mask, people posting pictures online with the emphasis being placed on the masks they are wearing etc. It is also in a way similar to the mark of the beast, as one cannot buy or sell in person without wearing a mask where one is required to wear a mask.

  5. It’s really great to see you posting again. Edifying. I’m glad you got some time off though. Still praying for you and your family. Stay alert and endure to the end!! I know you will. Hope
