Jonathan Edwards once said that the church suffers according to the red heifer. It is no coincidence this assault is happening and the red heifer will be burnt in the next few months. We are about to be refined.
This is a great Psalm of brokenness by David. I mentioned before how the church suffers according to the red heifer. We suffer as David and Jesus.
Psalms 51:7
Thou shalt sprinkle me with hyssop, and I shall be purified: thou shalt wash me, and I shall be made whiter than snow.
Do you think David is talking about the ashes of the red heifer “waters of purification” in verse 7? Yes and no. It is actually a reference in being washed by the blood of Jesus. You know this by verses 16-17. Read this Psalm. This is your prayer of repentance in the coming year.
Scripture tells us the daily will be taken away before the abomination of desolation. What was the daily in Daniels time in Babylon? Remember, that it was “taken away”? It was prayer and fasting. David tells us that God doesn’t want the blood of bulls and goats but that we give ourselves as a sacrifice on a daily basis. What is the “daily” today? There is no Temple to sacrifice at so they do their daily prayers at the Western Wall. This was the only place, even if it was slim to none, that God would hear anything from them. Once they get to the Mount of Jupiter, the Temple Mount, all of their hope is gone.
“Perhaps for the first time in millennia, due to Covid-19 restrictions, we find more Jews on the Temple Mount than at the retaining Western Wall!” – Joshua Wander
Here is what the Abomination of Desolation physically looks like to a 6 year old. My new book cover according to my daughter.
