The Flood of Daniels 70th Week

Disclaimer: this is not “thus saith the Lord”. This is my own private thought. That’s all. I shouldn’t have to say this but I still do.

If you don’t care or entertain the thought of a physical “thousand year” reign of Christ, then this isn’t for you. Move on. If you see the reign of Jesus Christ as not only a spiritual reign but a physical reign as well, this particular verse is to be taken literally. Why? Because it happened this way. I was reading Welcome to the Little Season by Allan Cornford and it got me thinking? If this verse in Daniel 9:26 is in a chronological order then you need to see what is being said here. I’m not concerned with timing here other than the 70 weeks of Daniel that was given to him by the Angel Gabriel.

And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood (שׁטף sheteph), and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

1) And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: (verse 27 is referring back to what is said right here: “And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease”,)
2) and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; (Rome in 67-70 AD: “and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate,”)
3) and the end (קץ – qêts) thereof shall be with a flood (שׁטף – sheteph), (the end referring to after there destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple)
4) and unto the end (קץ – qêts) of the war desolations are determined. (Then you can place this from verse 27, referring to this sentence at the end of verse 26, “even until the consummation (כּלה – kâlâh), and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.”)

Now look at #3. The end or (קץ – qêts) refers to being cut off in the sense of something ending. This is compared to “consummation” or (כּלה – kâlâh) in verse 27 that is literally referring to an end in the sense of completion. Now, this end or cutting off (קץ – qêts) after Rome comes to destroy Jersey and the Temple in 67-70 AD is due to a flood (שׁטף – sheteph) according to what Gabriel says to Daniel. This flood, which is also described as a deluge (a torrent of water), is after this 67-70 AD event. How long after? It doesn’t say, so we can only assume the timing, but the point is this, it comes after.

So why did I say all of that and what’s my point? We know from historical accounts that Soil Liquefaction (commonly referred to as Mud-Floods) is a phenomena where “saturated or partially saturated soil substantially loses strength and stiffness in response to an applied stress such as shaking during an earthquake” (page 125 in Welcome to the Little Season by Allan Cornford). Please remember, Jerusalem literally has the old city beneath it, covered in dirt. Archeologists tell us that Rome came and literally covered it up and then what you see as modern day Jerusalem was built on top of it. That seems like a lot of work to cover something up and then actually rebuild on top of it. Don’t you think?

And besides that, this “cover up” called Soil Liquefaction seemed to have happened all over the Earth, not just in a specific location like Jerusalem. This cataclysmic Soil Liquefaction or Mud Flood did not wipe out a former advanced civilization as many people believe called Tartaria. It was rather a time of catastrophic judgment that occurred as the thousand year(s) millennial Kingdom came to an end. The timing is irrelevant at this point because it happened. There are too many historical accounts that Soil Liquefaction  actually happened simultaneously and that we shouldn’t just disregard any of these historical facts.

So did Daniel 9:26 speak about a Soil Liquefaction that was going to occur? Did it refer to a few of these deluge events happening or one at a specific time, that would then be followed with the consummation of the end?

One final thing, if you look up this word on Google for “flood” שׁטף – sheteph, it will actually take you to the definition of “flux” in modern Hebrew. Flux describes any >effect< that appears to pass or travel through a surface or substance. Flux is a concept in applied mathematics and vector calculus which has many applications to physics. Flux in physics is the amount of matter, energy, particles or other size that hit a certain area (or pass through it) per unit of time. This particular >effect< just happens to be water that I am talking about.

And שׁטף – sheteph comes from the root ⁧שׁ־ט־ף⁩ (sh-t-f), forming words relating to overflowing of water. It’s kind of funny, the letters used here at SHTF. Shit Hits The Fan. I’d say they weren’t lying when it came to that flood in Daniel 9:26. Are you seeing the bigger picture here?

Let’s not stop there though as far as a “flood” or deluge happening here in Daniel that isn’t related to Noah’s flood. We see another “flood” in Revelation.

This particular verse speaks about Satan realizing he was cast to the earth from heaven and he then went to persecute the woman (you could interpret this spiritually as Israel) which brought forth the man child (Jesus). Then this woman fled into the wilderness “into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.” This could be historically suggested as Petra where the Valley of Moses is or is it? Petra as you know went through a cataclysmic event with heavy water flow and what looks like some electrical discharge and you can see this from the geography of the area. At this time the serpent, the dragon Satan, cast water (alluding to rain that causes a flood) out of his mouth as a flood (a torrent) with hopes of this woman drowning from this flood. The earth opened (an earthquake?) and he failed and then went to focus on the remnant of the seed to make war with them (Gog and Magog?).

”And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. And the earth helped the woman; and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. (‭‭Revelation‬ ‭12‬:‭13‬-‭17)

I think the thing we need to reconcile here is that Satan was cast down (descended) here in Revelation 12 but ascended out of the abyss in Revelation 20. Is there a break in this timeline between verses 16 and 17? Is this a separation of a thousand year period in our physical world. I ask this because of verse 12, prior to all of this.

Something should be noticed in this 12th chapter though. Verse 12 may be the key to the timing of this flood of Satan, known as that serpent and dragon. “Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.” (Verse 12) This short time is equivalent to Satan’s Little Season in Revelation 20.

So, are verses 13-17 referring to the time prior to 70 AD and the beginning of the thousand years? Was there multiple floods happening prior to the thousand years that was also caused by rain? Or was it referring to after the thousand years were over that is mentioned in verse 12? The Greek literally says “because of this be glad, O heavens, and O ones encamping in them. Woe to the earth and the sea.” Is this alluding to that there are some already in the heavens of God and if so, this would make me think that if there was a physical thousand years reign on earth, then it was finished.
